In a world of constant scientific advancement and depleting natural resources, it is said that many believe the future lies in genetically modified foods and crops. As is natural with anything that is involved with giving life or creating something that started out as naturally grown, there are those that vehemently oppose this idea as there hasn’t been enough time to properly test the long-term effects of intaking these foods. I myself believe that genetically modified materials are around for a reason and that ingenuity is the future of this world, especially if the population continues to rise as its current rate. • Cost-effective Food – The last few years the United States has seen record numbers of children going hungry, with more than a million young, growing children being put to bed at night without having had dinner. This is an issue that will only continue to grow if steps aren’t made to provide more cost-effective healthy and nutritious food in the hands of those who cannot regularly afford it.
